Seymour Memorial Award
The Charles and Marian H. Seymour Memorial Award was established to honor the founders of the California Scholarship Federation. The first award of $25 was made in 1936 to Elizabeth Murphy O'Neil, Fresno. Since that time, the amount and number of awards have increased to fifty finalists who receive $2,000 each, with five then selected to receive an additional $3,000 each. Finalists must attend their regional spring conference where the awards are presented. Funding of the awards is made possible by chapter dues and royalties on pins, certificates, and membership cards purchased from Balfour, the official vendor for CSF products. This is an adviser-nominated award only. No individual students may directly apply for the Seymour Award. A chapter is eligible to nominate two Life Members (Sealbearers) providing the chapter is current in its dues and approved Lists I, II, and III. The Seymour Memorial Award is considered one of the most prestigious recognitions given to CSF Life Members. Please encourage your CSF adviser to nominate up to two of your chapter's exceptional students. Seymour nomination packets are sent to advisers in late November and due mid-February. |
